The end of a (football) season

So, a long football season has come to the end, for Italialaiset and for Longobarda. At the end of the tournament, the group standings were a sad joint third last place, both for the Italialaiset, and Longobarda, who could even have arrived 8th if we had won one match more.

The highlight of the seasons were a victory 3-2 of Italialaiset against the Uberkleber team, who eventually qualified to the next stage. There's even a video of this match! For Longobarda, who began the season with a very worrisome record of three losses with no goals made, the highlight was with no doubt the victory against a team of 27 young cod fishes (Turska FC). I did not blog about it as I was in Italy, but for the records remains a great summary made by Ale Bon. on the mailing list of the team.

Both teams definitely reached the bottom when losing against the last in the groups, 1-0 Italialaiset against Yleislakko, and especially Longobarda was humiliated 4-1 by FC Degu who so far had only 1 point! Both teams managed however to close at the secondlast place.

It was a fun season, everybody gave their best to play, but there was often little we could do against teams made by younger people in much a better shape. Uncountable the number of injuries suffered by the white shirted :). The famous gol of the President "in torsione and in elevazione", of which we even have a video (Michele, put it on youTube!!) and the comic strip of the goals done during a match, drawn by Dario M. among my personal best memories.

Impossible to forget also the personal love-hatred relationship that Ale Bon. has with the referees, from his performances a la Klaus Dibiasi (famous Italian diver) who scarcely gained him a thrown in, to the top of his career when he got disqualified for addressing the referee, in excellent Finnish, with an astounding "Old referee, go home".

What to say more? I invite all the other team members to leave their comments and impressions to this post, and I renew the challenge for next season, objective is to improve our final position with both of the teams!

That was a good recap! Yeah I think we didn't fully express our potentialities due to poor physical shape (many people would have problems even in playing petanque) or lack of tactical knowledge (we mostly played as a bunch of goats just to quote our Ettore). Nonetheless it has been fun and I only regret that we did not go for a beer afterwards... And last thing: Simone now we wanna have the grade for each player (the pagelles)!

The most important thing is that we all had fun! Of course we got angry sometimes but that's part of our italian behaviour. Finns don't even dare to talk during a game.. we actually spend more time talking than running.
As a team we could improve but first each of ous has to get in shape. We're a way too unfit to play! On the court we don't have knowledge of any tactics but now it's too late to learn something about that.
As a defender I have to say that I have particularly liked the "fade away" move applied by the majority of our team members. Literally the "Fade away" Move consists of disappearing when our opponent is advancing, moving front, with the ball.

A team called Longobarda is not born to win, just to be able to survive in the same category and that what we did (also because it was impossible to go below...). So, we got our goal. As goalkeeper I have to say TalliHalli was one the best indoor field I ever played. As striker I am happy for the 2 goals scored.
Thanks to everybody,
Adriano
